How to Get More Votes on Your Game Server (Without Cheating)

Climb the server list the honest way. Practical ways to get more votes for your Minecraft, Discord or game server, from reminders and rewards to a better listing.

On a server list, votes decide who is at the top, and the top gets the most views. The good news is that you can get more votes without tricks. The same things that make players happy also make them vote.

This guide shows how to get more votes for your server in a way that is fair, lasts and does not put your listing at risk.

Why votes matter

A vote is a small signal that a real player likes your server. On TopRealms, servers are ranked by votes this month and the count resets on the 1st, so every server gets a fresh start. A good rank puts your page in front of more people, who may join, vote and bring friends. That loop is what you are building.

1. Give players a reason to vote

Most players will vote if there is something in it for them. Give a small reward for each vote, such as in-game money, a crate key or a cosmetic. Rewards should be fair, small and available to everyone. Our guide to vote rewards shows how to give them automatically.

2. Make voting easy

Every extra step loses people. Make voting take one click:

  • Add a /vote command that shows your vote link.
  • Put the link in your Discord, on your website and in your server menu.
  • Show the reward next to the link, so players know what they get.
  • Use a short link to your vote page, such as the one on your server dashboard.

3. Remind players at the right time

Players can vote again after a few hours. A short message in chat when a player logs in ("You can vote now and get a reward") works well. A weekly reminder in Discord helps too. Do not spam: one friendly reminder is better than a hundred.

4. Add a vote badge to your website

A live vote badge on your website, forum signature or Discord info page shows your current votes and sends players straight to your vote page. It is a good way to turn existing traffic into votes. You can find the badge code in your dashboard on TopRealms.

5. Use streaks and goals

People love progress. Offer a bonus for voting seven days in a row, or a community goal such as "if we reach 500 votes this month, everyone gets a bonus event". Goals turn voting into a team activity.

6. Keep your listing in good shape

Players who find your listing should want to join. Check that:

  • The description says what makes your server special.
  • The banner and icon look sharp.
  • The address and version are correct.
  • The tags match your server.
  • Reviews are answered and your Discord link works.

A good listing brings more visitors, and visitors become voters. See our tips on a good server description.

7. Ask for reviews and be a good host

Satisfied players are the best voters. Ask happy members to leave a review on your page. Reviews show new visitors that your server is real and well run. Reply to feedback, fix problems and let the community know when you do.

8. Run events around voting

Make voting part of something fun: a monthly "vote party" with a special event, a weekend where voters get a bonus, or a leaderboard of the top voters with prizes. Announce it ahead of time so players plan for it.

9. Do not cheat

It can be tempting to buy votes or use bots. Do not. Fake votes are easy to spot, they can get your server removed from lists and they destroy your name. Voting should come from real players, so rewarding real votes is fine and rewarding fake ones is not. TopRealms limits voting to once every 6 hours per player and per network to keep the list fair.

10. Be patient and track results

Votes grow with your community, not overnight. Look at your dashboard each week: how many views, clicks and votes did you get? If many people view your page but few vote, check how easy voting is. If few people view it, work on your listing and on getting found. Small improvements add up.

A simple weekly routine

  1. Post your vote link and reward in Discord every week.
  2. Check your vote numbers and views on the dashboard.
  3. Thank your top voters.
  4. Improve one thing on your listing.

Frequently asked questions

How often can players vote?

On TopRealms, once every 6 hours per server for each player and network. Votes reset at the start of each month.

Is it allowed to reward players for voting?

Yes. Small in-game rewards for real votes are common and welcome. Rewarding fake or bought votes is not allowed.

Why did my votes go down?

Votes reset on the 1st of each month, so numbers start at zero. Check that your reminders, vote command and reward system still work.

Can I buy votes?

No. Bought or fake votes can get a server removed from the list. Spend that effort on your community and your listing instead.

How many votes do I need to be at the top?

It depends on the game and the month. Check your category to see where you stand, and set a goal for a bit above your current rank.
